Biography Project FAQS

  • When is it due?  
  • What do I need to turn in?  1.  A written report organized in neat paragraphs.  Be sure to include a decorative cover.    2.  My Biography Questions    3.  An art representation of my Biography subject.  (For example:  a painting or sculpture)

Night of the Twisters Project FAQS

  • When it is due? 
  • What do I need to turn in?  *You will turn in 2 items.  

   1.  Your choice from the “Book Report Ideas” page sent home.  Be sure to follow the directions explicitly.    2.  Your choice from the ”More Ideas” activities page sent home.  Again, be sure your choice follows the directions stated.  

  • Where can I find the scoring guide?  It was sent home with you attached to the “Book Report Ideas” and the “More Ideas” pages.

                    Rubric Night of the Twisters Rubric

  • Can my parent help me?  Absolutely.
  • Can I bring home a “Night of the Twisters” book to help me with my project?  Yes, however if it is lost or marred, the you will be responsible for replacing it.  (The books are my personal property and were not purchased with school funds.)

Poetry Recitation FAQS

North Carolina Standard Course of Study, Objective 4.03 Make oral and written presentations to inform or persuade selecting vocabulary for impact.

  • When will I recite my poem to the class?  
  • Which poem will I have to recite?  Students will have a choice of which poem they will recite. 
  • What difference does it make which poem I choose to recite?  The more difficult the poem, the potential for a higher grade is available. 
  • How will I be grades?  Students will be graded using the rubric. (Attached)

Poetry Projects FAQS

  • When is it due?  _____________ (The “Poetry Slam” is that same day.)
  • Can my parent help me?  Absolutely.
  • What should it be about?  Choose one theme and all of your poems should be about that one theme.
  • How many poems will I have when I am finished?  4.  1 cinquain, 1 narrative poem, 1 lyric poem and 1 poem of your choice (from the list provided).
  • What else is required?  Your booklet should have a colorful, labeled coverEach poem should have a cover page, with a title. You should also include a Table of Contents listing the poem title and the type of poem. Your entire booklet should be neatly done and include pictures.  *This booklet will count as 2 test grades.
  • Does it have to by typed?  No, it can be handwritten.
  • Will I have to share my project with the class?  Yes, at the “Poetry Slam”.  You will share your favorite poem with the class. 
  • When should I get started?  As soon as possible.  Use the internet as a resource tool.
