I am a local girl, born and raised in the small fishing village of Salter Path, NC. Living on the beach in a very small community allowed a very adventurous childhood with three-wheeling and motorcycle hide-and-go-seek as well as sand dune scavenger hunts. I am the middle child of three children having an older sister, Tammy, and a younger brother, Adam.
My family has always held academics in high regard. Growing up I knew at an early age that I had a future in education. Following high school I attended East Carolina University graduating with a Bachelor’s Degree (BS) in Elementary Education (K-6), received my Certification in Reading (K-12) and recently earned my Master’s Degree in School Administration. I have had the privilege of working in many different grade/subject areas over my tenure in education. Over my 17 years in education I have taught 1st, 3rd, 4th and 5th grades as well as Title I Reading. Currently I have the pleasure of working at the best school in Carteret County: Newport Elementary School!
